Think You Already Have Major Medical Insurance Coverage?

When we think of health insurance, we think - yes we have it, or no we don't. We don't think of the different coverage types that exist, the benefits of each, the costs of each, etc. But, to completely protect ourselves and our families, we should take a long hard look at our health insurance policies, to make certain that we really are financially protected from major medical expenses, and that we really are getting value for our money, not just blindly thinking that everything is okay and that we are covered. You don't want to wait until a major illness or injury occurs to find out that what you thought was fully covered by your health insurance policy is in fact, not covered at all. You will be left holding the bag, the bag that contains thousands of dollars in medical bills that you have no idea how you will ever be able to afford to pay. Major medical insurance coverage means that no matter where you are, what country that you are in if you need medical care, your insurance policy will pay for that care as it normally does. There are fewer restrictions on major medical insurance policies, and they cover more healthcare needs than any other type of health insurance policy available today. With major medical insurance coverage, you are covered for routine doctor visits, preventative care, which can become quite expensive, especially for children, any kind of medical diagnostic test that your doctor may order, such as CT scans or MRI's, admittance into the hospital for any length of time, home health care, prescription medications and emergency room visits, just to name a few of the covered services. For most of us, this means that all of our medical expenses will be covered by our major medical insurance policy, saving us thousands of dollars in medical expenses. Not all major medical insurance policies offer the same coverage options, so you need to be certain to find out exactly what is covered by your policy. Some don't cover expenses incurred for dental services, vision care, appointments and care received from specialized practitioners, mental health care needs, such as psychiatric therapy and counseling, family planning or birth control options, care of chronic diseases, such as cancer, AIDS, emphysema, etc., physical or occupational therapy, or routine maternity and prenatal care. Most major medical insurance policies have maximum lifetime limits, meaning that they will pay for all of your care up to a certain dollar amount, and when that dollar amount has been reached; your policy will be canceled. You should check to see what these limits are and keep that in mind when shopping for major medical insurance. With major medical insurance policies, you still have a yearly deductible that has to be met each year, which directly affects the costs of your premiums. Your premiums are affected by some other factors, such as the state you live in, your current medical condition, your age, etc. The higher deductible you choose, the lower your premiums will be, but the more you have to pay out of your pocket for medical care.
